Emmanuel Baptist Church Falmouth is led by a team of Godly leaders made up of our Pastor, Elders, Deacons and those with a specialist ministry oversight.

Our Pastor and Elders offer spiritual oversight, guidance and leadership to the life of the church. Our Trustees help ensure the church is well governed, carrying the legal responsibilities of the charity and making sure we operate in line with our governing documents and relevant regulations.

Our Deacons and Ministry Coordinators lead specific areas of church life and support the many teams of volunteers who make ministry happen week by week.

Darren Bovis-CoulterPastor
Hi, I am new to Cornwall as of 2023 coming from a previous pastorate in Coventry, but originally hail from Essex. I had lived by the coast most of my life, even on a yacht on the River Dart for a number of years, so returning to the coast is a welcome change over being land locked in the Heart of England for the last 12 years. My wife Nikki and our 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 tortoises, 1 snake and a gecko make up the Bovis-Coulter (BC) gang. We are all looking forward to serving EBC and this wonderful part of Cornwall with Ephesians 4 as our banner to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

I moved to Cornwall to work a summer season and still find myself here 20 years later! I’m married to Kye and when we’re not working or studying we love to spend time with friends and family, or take our faithful companion dog, Spencer, out for an adventure. Joining EBC leadership in Feb 2022, I’ve felt a warm welcome and a high level of trust and freedom from the rest of the team. It’s exciting times for us as a community and my strong desire is to see God’s people equipped and empowered to serve him faithfully in every area of their lives.

My wife Margo and I have attended EBC since 2017. Previously we had the joy of worshipping and serving in churches in different countries and denominational “streams”. Joshua 24v15 has been important to me throughout my life “… as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”, and as a husband and father I have endeavoured to live this out, at times with mixed success but always grateful for the grace and love of Jesus Christ in my life. I became Treasurer in 2023. My previous finance career has provided me with the functional skills required for the role, but more important than this is my belief that church finances should reflect the vision of the church, and that the primary role of the Church Treasurer is to regularly hold the vision up before the church.

North Devon was my home until I married and moved to the West Midlands. I worked in banking before becoming a full time mum. In the hotel business & member of EBC in Falmouth since 1978. Widowed in 2000, I have 5 grown up children and 10 wonderful grandchildren. I love gardening! I became an Elder at EBC in 2019 and now serving as a Trustee. We seek to be guided by God as we lead & care for our church family.

Emma Munden Families Deacon / Trustee
Hi everyone, my name is Emma and I am privileged to have been the Children and Youth Deacon here at EBC for almost ten years. Whilst I am no longer in that role, I continue to serve as part of the Leadership. Myself and my family live in Falmouth, I met my husband Paul when taking part in a summer beach mission based at EBC and moved to Falmouth when we got married twenty years ago. We have been blessed with two children, Lewis and Isabella who are now teenagers.

I sensed a clear call to serve in this season as a trustee at Emmanuel Baptist Church. My faith shapes how I lead., so after 24 years in the Royal Air Force, leading teams and managing significant responsibility, I learned the value of integrity, accountability and calm judgement. I now serve as a police officer with Devon and Cornwall Police and help run our family business, bringing experience in oversight and planning. Above all, I want to serve Christ and His church, and approach the trustee role prayerfully and with humility.

In my previous career with a national mental health charity, including three years as Chief Executive, I was accountable to a board of trustees and helped lead governance training and planning. That experience has given me a clear understanding of charity law and the shared responsibility trustees carry. I’m committed to seeing our church remain welcoming, well led and spiritually healthy. Alongside this, I’ve served as a job coach with Christians Against Poverty, reflecting my heart for practical mission.

I’ve been part of Emmanuel Baptist Church for several years and involved in many areas of church life. I came to faith and was baptised in my late teens, and soon sensed God calling me to serve young people, a calling that shaped my working life. After retraining as a youth and community worker, I served from frontline roles through to senior leadership, including CEO of a national youth organisation and adviser to government. Over the years I’ve held a number of trustee and leadership roles within churches and charities, and I currently serve as Chair and trustee of the national Christian grant-giving charity Leaver’s Coulson Trust. I bring experience in governance, strategic planning and volunteer leadership, and remain grateful to serve within the life of the church.

I am a mum to two wonderful children, and wife to a very busy husband - we have two crazy dogs! I am passionate about prayer, prayer ministry, listening to God and sharing His heart with others, to be open to new rhythms of prayer to lead us into a deeper relationship with our Lord and each other so that we might know what is on His heart and agenda for our Church and wider community.

I have been at EBC since I was a teenager and I feel very much a part of the church family. I have served at EBC by helping lead youth groups, offering IT support, running and upgrading the church PA and more recently producing our livestream services. I feel my deacon role is one that facilitates our church services by using my skills of sound engineering, videography and photography. As part of the Worship Team I help to create an atmosphere that is sensitive to the Holy Spirit, an environment of corporate worship that is God honouring. I help to plan our livestream services, aiming to make them visual and engaging. I believe our church should be accessible to all, have an environment that is attractive and modern where people can comfortably worship. I am excited to work alongside our service leaders to help us introduce people to Jesus through our online content.

Kye is a wonderful support to Steve Gray as EBC's deputy designated person for safeguarding. He is a qualified safeguarding person in his day job, and a very friendly and approachable person working with our youth / children, men's ministry and other ministry areas.

Nikki Bovis-CoulterWomen's Ministry
As a pastor's wife there can be an expectation of getting involved in lots of areas of church life. I am passionate about seeing everyone grow in their faith and released into the ministry areas and gifts that God has given them - this is what I believe God has called me to do, as well as look after my lovely family and many animals as Darren has already shared.

Poppy Bovis-CoulterYouth Intern
Hi, I’m Poppy! I’ve been in Falmouth since 2023 and I’m really loving it. Since moving here, I’ve felt God calling me into youth work. As a SWYM trainee, I now serve in youth work at my church, helping run Sunday youth sessions, Bible studies, events, and help at camps. I’m also part of the chaplaincy team in the local secondary school. Alongside this, I’m involved in some student and outreach work. I'm excited for what God's calling me into and for the future of youth work here at EBC!
