Why Choose The Garden Pre-School?

At The Garden, we’re proud to offer a warm, welcoming pre-school environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to thrive. Our small group sizes mean our experienced team can really get to know each child, supporting them as they learn, play, explore and grow in confidence.

Our experienced team creates a safe, loving and enriching environment where every child is known and supported. With small session sizes and 15 and 30-hour funded places available, we work closely with families to give children the best possible start before school.

Based in the heart of Falmouth, we have bright and spacious indoor rooms alongside extensive outdoor areas, giving children plenty of opportunities to discover, create and have fun. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), while keeping play, curiosity and each child’s individual interests at the heart of their day.

How do I apply for a place?

We encourage parents to contact us on: 01326 315002 to arrange a viewing prior to applying for a place. We appreciate that the prospect of leaving your child is a big step, and you need to be completely comfortable with the people and setting that will be caring for your child, so seeing us ‘in action’ will enable you to see the wholesome, loving and nurturing environment that we provide.

Once you have been to see us, we will provide you with an information pack, and an application form for you to complete if you feel we are the right fit for you and your child.

When you return the application form, we will be in touch to arrange a start date and settling sessions.

What should my child bring to pre-school?

We advise all parents to provide the following when their child starts at the setting:

A small backpack to keep belongings in.
A spare set of clothes (or two!) for us to change your child if needed.
Nappies and wipes if your child still needs them.
A waterproof coat, as we try to get outside as much as possible, even if it is raining.
A pair of welly boots that can remain at the setting.
A named water bottle.
A named lunchbox (if your child is staying for lunch)

Please can all personal items be named for easy identification, and to prevent items being misplaced / sent home with the wrong child.

Do children need to be toilet trained?

No, your child does not need to be toilet trained to attend the setting. Once a child shows signs of being ready to toilet train, we will work closely alongside the parents to support both them and the child as they embed this new skill. Every toileting journey is unique to each child, with some children taking longer than others to become confident with using the toilet. For more advice please visit: https://eric.org.uk/potty-training/

What outdoor space does the pre-school have?

We are very fortunate to be able to offer an extensive outdoor provision for the children who attend our setting. We have 2 outdoor spaces: the “top” garden and the “bottom” garden. The top garden is a mixture of Astro turf and a rubber play surface, making it the perfect space for us to be able to get outside in all kinds of weather. The bottom garden consists of rubber play surface, Astro turf and grass – perfect for bug hunting and exploring nature! Both spaces offer lots of space to develop gross motor skills, offering a climbing wall, climbing frames, a sensory swing, and space to jump, run, crawl, kick and throw! Imaginations are also able to flourish as we have digging areas, construction areas, home corners and even a boat and a treehouse!
