Mission: Far and wide

Emmanuel fosters a spirit of compassion and responsibility to others as modelled by Christ. Church members over the years have been moved from simply knowing about a situation, to action; pioneering projects in Nepal, Romania, Ukraine and Kenya to name just a few.

The Fellowship has responded generously in support of these projects, both in practical and spiritual ways: prayer, finance, feet on the ground and in other practical ways. Members are encouraged to introduce new areas of Ministry opportunity as needs are identified. Throughout this process, the Leadership seek to encourage, build up, equip and send out those with a calling to Mission.

Global Mission

Emmanuel also has a wider missionary interest. We have links with the Church in Nepal, orphanages in Romania, and with several individuals who are serving as missionaries abroad.  One of our previous Pastors at EBC is now a missionary in France.

Ways we do mission

Shoeboxes

Emmanuel has been a collection centre in recent years for the Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Appeal. The Fellowship enjoys being part of filling and donating boxes.

Casa Mea

Several people linked with Emmanuel have worked for many years in establishing and maintaining this Romanian orphanage; caring for, loving and inspiring many children over three decades.

Ripple Effect

During our morning offering in church, the children are encouraged to contribute towards the internationally recognised Ripple Effect.

Nepal

Through our link with a local church in Nepal, we have been able to give practical and prayer support to Nepali Christians as they seek to spread the Gospel. Over the past 25 years we have been able to fund poor children in education, support bible students and pastors, fund church building, as well giving emergency aid after the 2015 earthquake and during the Covid pandemic. Find out more about our work in Nepal here.

Local

Emmanuel is also committed to sharing the love of God in practical ways.  We have a strong emphasis on engagement with and service to our local community.  Several of our members are involved in: Street Pastors, Foodbank, Care Homes Ministry, Care for the Homeless and Christians Against Poverty.

Our Local Mission

St Petroc’s Homeless Project

Locally, several of our Members have been involved in sheltered housing for the homeless. We have also supported the purchase and establishment of a House of Multiple Occupancy in Falmouth which supports Clients on the road to re-engaging with society.

With regard to financial support, 10% of Emmanuel’s total income (offering room hire and gift day refunds) is dedicated to mission.

As well as overseas mission, the Baptist Missionary Society, we support the Baptist Home Mission and two UK missions, Ambassadors for Christ and Open Air Campaigners both of whom are working in Cornwall.

Emmanuel has its own preschool nursery known as The Garden.  Although a separate charity, The Garden is run by a management committee made up of several Church members.
